Golfito, Osa Peninsula Costa Rica

Golfito is situated on the Osa Peninsula, within the Golfo Dulce of the Pacific Ocean. Boats operate between Golfito and Puerto Jiménez, which serves as an access point to the Osa Peninsula and Corcovado National Park.

The town is located on a narrow strip of land between the bay of Golfito and a surrounding hill. It consists of two main areas: the city itself and a shopping district to the south, along with a residential area near the port.

Golfito offers small marinas, yachting and boating services, sport fishing opportunities, and serves as a destination for cruise ships. The area’s tourism is heavily focused on the sport fishing industry. Many lodges and hotels have their sport fishing boats and captains.

Additionally, activities such as yachting, boating, water sports, and beach activities are popular options. The beaches south of Golfito, including Playa Zancudo, Pilón, and Pavones, offer excellent surfing opportunities.

Visitors to Golfito can enjoy a variety of activities, including dolphin and whale watching boat tours, horseback riding, and hiking excursions to the Golfito Wildlife Refuge or the Piedras Blancas National Park. The area is also well-known for bird-watching tours and sport fishing. GOOGLE MAP
